"Account of Courtney & Jeremy | whizzper | 13

Courtney turned her head to look at her mother, the teddy still clutched in her arms. "Mom? I thought you were at work."

"No. It was supposed to be a surprise..." Caitlin said as she walked over to her daughters bed. Gently she laid herself on her side next to her daughter. Caitlin took her daughter in her arms, hugging her tight, "Now what's wrong?"

Fresh tears formed in Courtney's eyes as she told her mother what had happened. "I...I don't want to be alone, Mom. I really don't."

"Oh, baby. You won't be." Caitlin said, wiping her daughter's tears away with her thumb. "They both said they didn't go all the way. It sounds like neither of them intended to hurt you, you know. It sounds like they are both genuinely sorry."

"But...I hung up on the both of them."

"What you think you are the only one to ever have gotten upset and hung up on someone? I've lost count of how many times I've hung up on your father. Since Junior High, it's nothing new."

"Really?" Courtney asked, shifting her head to look at her mother.

"Really. I think you should call them and make the first move. They're probably both wondering how to make it up to you." Caitlin said, kissing Courtney on the forehead.

"Do...do you think he likes me? Honestly. I mean...I'm not sure if I'm pretty enough..."

"You are kidding right?"

"No, I'm not. I mean he's on the football team..."

"And he could have any girl he wants...but he hasn't had any. That should tell you something."

"He likes me?" Courtney asked, not really believing it.

"No, I don't *like* you." Jeremy's voice said from the door.

Courtney looked over to her door, her heart seizing up at he words as she saw Jeremy standing in the the doorway.

"I've loved you since kindergarten, Courtney. I really have. I've never been able to say anything though, cuz I didn't think I was smart enough for you."

Courtney's heart soared at his words, "You...you aren't just kidding around are you? Please tell me you aren't kidding me. Please."

"About something like that? No. Never. I love you."
