Do tall men gravitate towards short women? | FucktheFchord | 2

So, anyway, on a cold, snowless Friday in December and the last day before Christmas break. I sat in my car waiting for Ashely to get out of her last-period class. She'd been late and still, after most of the other Seniors had left, there was no sign of her. I figured she must have gotten on the bus today and forgot to mention. Still, it was freezing out and I'd hate to be wrong and leave her there. After ten more minutes I gave up and left. It was an amazing stroke of good luck that I'd managed to hear her voice behind me through my stereo and slammed the brakes. I waited as she ran to catch up, threw her bookbag into the backseat and climbed into the passenger seat and closed the door. It was obvious without her peppy, wide-eyed smile that something was bothering her. A little bit down the road I asked if something was wrong. "Nothing" she said, leaning back with her eyes closed. A few minutes later she looked at me in a half-smile and said she and John had split up.

"Oh, really? What happened, Heather?"

"Well, we'd been talking about this recently and we had a fight about his smoking and finally I just got fed up and said we should split." Not as 'happy as can be' as I thought, apparantly. Looking back, I don't know why I didn't see this coming. It actually was pretty obvious really. But she didn't seem too upset so I was alright. In fact, I wasn't sad at all, not for her and definitely not for myself.

Do they make it home?

          Yes
