You're used to understanding scientific ideas the way others understand their native languages, capable of building devices out of sci-fi TV shows. Since middle school, you traveled all over the world with your folks, getting into all sorts of adventures. Even though you were born in 1910, you barely look like you're in your 30s (finding those life-expanding herbs on Monster Isle will do that). But you've always your scientific prowess for good, never doing anything devious or dastardly (well, except for a couple pranks as a kid). Losing the lower half of your left arm during the Kremin invasion two years ago was a pain in the butt, but the bronze-colored prosthetic you built is just as effective. You are Dr. Tanya Questor, super-scientist and adventurer.
Standing at 5'8", 130 lbs, you'll never be a supermodel, but you're good-looking, and you know it. Your dark red hair is kept shoulder-length, your blue eyes are mesmerizing. A few of your lovers in the past have mentioned your resemblance to Julianne Moore. Plus, your high-school sweetheart wasn't the only person with 36 C's (so to speak). Despite spending a lot of time in the lab, you tend to keep in shape (fighting supervillains is a great workout program). You wear a dark blue military-style jacket, and black loose-fitting pants that are tight in just the right places. Metal wristbands contain high-powered lasers and a gas-powered grappling gun. Your utility belt is has both circuitry that enables you to fly (no Boba Fett jetpack for you!), as well as various other gadgets you carry as the situation sees fit. You'll fight if necessary, but you try to neutralize threats through scientific means, like Dr. Who.
Having already made your presence known to the mayor and the chief of police in the mayor's office. The business? Determing what you intend to do first to save the city.
The Police chief speaks first, "I don't like it. Dozens of people have gone missing, and the only lead we have is that all of the missing people were last seen around the Supercity warehouse district. Every black and white we've sent down there has either come up with nothing, or never returned. We're afraid to send anymore units down there, so we figured maybe you could help us out, Doc, seeing as you're a hero and all." The chief of Police smiles after informing you of this information, obviously looking over your body more intently than of the files he has set out about the case on the mayor's desk.
The mayor, noting the police chief's glances over your body as it's accented through the jacket steps forward. "There is also the matter of this bizarre cult of women who have so far robbed over 4 jewelry stores in Supercity so far. Guards and policemen have tried to stop them on each occasion but end up with no recollection of what happened after encountering the women. In fact everyone present only recalls the women, nothing else. How you go about investigating this is up to you, Dr. Questor, but we suspect there is some sort of magical power at work in this case. I know that may be a challenge for you, but best of luck."
The police chief, finally getting over how good you look in costume steps forward with another file he sets on the desk. "There is also the matter of the animal attacks, Doctor." He makes a concerted effort to stare into your blue eyes as he announces the other case. "Animals from zoos have been escaping, some have attacked citizens, we suspect that something sinister is behind these attacks. We suggest, if you're interested in looking into it, that you investigate the local zoos after dark. It seems like a steady stream of escapes are occuring every night."
The mayor, steps past the police chief and looks at you with respect, obviously concerned about the state of his city in the face of these new crimes.
"Well Dr. Questor, each of these problems is a priority, whichever you choose to investigate will be doing Supercity a huge favor." |
