My dream was dark that is all I could see, but there was a noise. I suddenly realized I was waking up. For a moment I heard nothing, then again a baby crying. That has to be Shelly. Lilly and her had stayed the night in the extra room mom had put up to help her sister out with the baby. I got up and rubbed my eyes. I walked down the hall as suddenly Alice's door opened. There stood Tiff, obviously having been woken by the screaming. She was wearing a nice pair of black panties with a matching bra. When she realized I stood in front of her, she blushed and went back in. She opened the door just a crack and stuck her head out.
“What's going on?” Tiff asked.
“Don't know. I guess Lilly tries to get Shelly back to sleep.” I replied. Suddenly I took a deep breath. I smelled something. “Have you been drinking?”
“Just a little bit.” Tiff confessed. “We had Tequila.” she said with a smile on her face. My little niece was quite drunk. Maybe it's not that bad, if she got more outgoing.
“Get back to sleep. I'll check out what's going on.” I told my niece and went towards the crying. Tiff looked another second and closed the door. Lilly had her daughter in her arms, walking around the living room.
“Everything OK?” I asked her. She turned around.
“I'm sorry I woke you.” she apologized.
“No worries. I went to bed pretty early” I replied. “Can I help?”
“Can you maybe walk her a little bit? I need to sleep a little bit. She will be up in another three hours.” Lilly said.
“No problem.” I replied. Aunt Lilly walked over to me and placed my little niece into my arms. Again I was fascinated how fragile she was. Her screaming had already faded a little.
“You go back to bed.” I told my aunt. “If she's not asleep in an hour I'll wake you.”
Lilly nodded gave her daughter a kiss on the forehead and I got one on m cheek. “Thank you.”
Then she turned and left to get some sleep. I started by walking around the house, rocking her from one side to the other, but nothing seemed to work. So I got a blanket and wrapped it around Shelly. Then we went outside the front door. We had a very clear night and due to the high temperatures of the day it was quite warm outside. I held her so that she could see the stars. Now her screaming faded away and she went silent. I sat down on our bench near the garage. The whole neighborhood was silent. I took a deep breath, it was a wonderful night. The first light of the day was visible. I didn't want to wake my niece so I decided to stay outside with her. With the blanket she was warm enough. I watched her breath, I was amazed by her little nose and hands.
“The girls really like you.” I heard a voice saying from the sidewalk. I lifted my head and saw Joe standing there.
“What are you doing here? I thought you would savor every moment in your own bed.” I said to her. surprised.
“I thought so too, but someone was missing.” she said with a smile. She walked towards the bench and sat down. “How come you're out here with Shelly?”
“She couldn't sleep and I offered Lilly to take over. It seems like she was fascinated by the stars. They calmed her down.” I explained to Joe. “But I think I'll take her back in. I'm not quite dressed for sleeping outside.” Joe looked down on me. I was only wearing boxers and a shirt. I stood up and walked towards the door. Right before a grabbed the handle I turned around.
“You comin?” I asked Joe. She smiled at me and followed me. We went inside and I managed to get Shelly into her bed without waking her or her mother. After I closed the door I walked Joe towards mom's room.
“Joe have you girls have been drinking tonight?” I asked Joe just before we went in.
“A little bit. Mandy swiped a bottle off Cat's stash.” Joe confessed. “Is Tiff that drunk?”
“No. I just noticed it. Was Alice drinking?” I asked Joe. I knew Alice wouldn't do such a stupid thing, but better safe than sorry. We got inside mom's room and I pulled my shirt over my head and threw it on a chair and climbed into bed.
“No. She said she wasn't in the mood for it.” Joe replied. “Something wrong?”
“No everything is fine.” I replied. Joe also got out of her clothes. She laid them next to my shirt. Looking marvelous like always I admired her for a second.
“I need a little space too.” she teased me, and rubbed herself against me. I could feel her heartbeat. A sudden shudder went through my body. I leaned in and kissed her lightly on the lips. Having her body laying next to me made me fall asleep almost instantly. |
