The Briefcase | RicoLouis | 4

“Good day.” Thomas said as he walked out just as another customer was entering. He made his way back toward the police station and settled down at his desk at he took off his firearm and stuck it in his drawer and locked it. It had been years since he had needed to use it but with many of the crooks he had locked up years before where now on the street it was probably better that he still carried it. He sighed looking over his paper work. Part of him wished he was back at the high school where he worked security part time.

He sighed as he slide on the glasses he had bought and went to work. After several seconds he caught something out of the corner of the glasses. He looked up to see a young female officer being pushed away by a young punk. The punk had her gun and he pointed at her. Thomas reached down and fumbled with his keys as he unlocked the drawer and snatched of the glasses and stood quickly. As he looked over though there was no female officer. There was no young punk. Just some hooker talking to a desk sergeant.

“You okay Tom.” He heard as he turned to see Angelina the officer he had just seen about to be killed. She was a lovely young Latin beauty though she could be just as though as the guys.

“Yea.” He said holstering his weapon.

“You sure you look a little distant.” She said with a smile.

“You could say that.” He said looking down at the glasses.

“Why don’t you head on home call it a day.” She said giving him a pat on the shoulder.

“Yea, I think I will he said.” He said his goodbyes. Wrapped up his paperwork and headed home telling the captain he was feeling a little under the weather. The captain and him had both been in the academy at the same time but after his dad’s death Thomas had quit caring about promotions. He headed home wondering what his wife and daughter where up to.

He walked up the yard picking up the newspaper. He frowned reading the headline Eric Easton was running for the senate. The Easton’s where not the kind of people he would vote for. They where the kind of criminals who where above the law. Thomas believed that his dad had been killed by Edward Easton. A powerful businessman and head of the Easton family. He sighed as he stuck it under his arm.

“Hey honey.” He said with a smile as he opened the door and saw his wife. She was sitting at the table talking with her sister Penelope.

“Hey Dear.” His wife said

“Hey Thomas.” Penelope said as she stood up and gave him a kiss on the cheek. It was more then he had gotten from his wife lately.

“So where is our daughter?” he said noticing it was rather quiet around here.

“At the party.” His wife said.

“Oh joy.” He said. He had tried to talk her out of going but he knew better then try and stop her.

“Well I will let you two ladies talk I am going to go change and get a shower.” He said as he headed for his room. He opened up his wall safe and slide his gun inside. Then he fished the wallet out of his pocket and tossed it in as well. He had learned better then to leave it out with a teenage daughter around the house. It wasn’t her he didn’t trust it was more her friends. Then he pulled out the glasses from his pocket. He sighed as he slide them on and closed the safe. He unfolded the newspaper and looked down reading the article as he undid his shirt he looked up at the bed and saw…
