It was a long week and going to be a long boring weekend. You have a three day weekend starting tomorrow but everyone is leaving town except you. Your stupid car broke down just the day before and everyone you know is going in the opposite direction of where you want to go. It was a difficult phone call that had to be made to explain to your girlfriend that you couldn’t come home and the two of you would have to wait yet another month to see each other.
You were so depressed about this you couldn’t even pay attention in your philosophy class. It was something to do about Mackie refuting Plantagan’s argument about morally free beings. All you got out of it was that Mackie wouldn’t give up his original position. You decided that come Monday you would go the professor’s office and ask him to explain it to you. You also decide that night classes suck, especially on Thursdays.
Tonight you would do something either on the computer or read a book. You were pretty far behind in your reading – though you got everything you needed without reading a textbook – but reading for school is pretty boring since half the words are just repeating what has already been said in slight more confusing ways. So computer time it was.
The door to your apartment is as familiar as it always is; a big brown thing. It’s never locked; your roommates don’t know how to lock it. They are all gone for the weekend – a good thing since one of them drinks and smokes way too much with way too many other people and has almost tried to burn the place down quit literately (he still hasn’t figured out how to remove that burnt carpet in his room yet without loosing his security deposit). You nearly walk in the living room before noticing a note on your door. It was hard to see at 8 o’clock at night.
Going inside you flip on the light and open the note:
Dear ,
I couldn’t wait another month to see you again so I came up. I had a surprise for you all planned out so I had to come up. It’s in your room, your roommates let me in as they were leaving. Hope you get here soon |
