Losing Consciousness | synonymous | 3

Panting heavily, Alair got to her feet. The sick feeling in her stomach passed as quickly as it had came.

She tried to steel herself, but an awkward feeling permeated her every motion. How many women in the world had accidentally shoved a rat up... there? How could a rat possibly make it... into her? She had been so stupid! The thoughts were beyond Alair and so she chose to ignore them. Conveniently a knock broke her concentration.

"Coming! Just a minute!" Alair called out.

The teacher strode to her closet and scanned through her clothes. She tossed the ones she didn't want to wear arbitrarily.

"Strange," she muttered, "Why don't I want to wear any of this?"

The knock resounded again and Alair confirmed it with another call.

She settled on the only non-regulation clothes she owned, a long black skirt and a less formal button-down blouse. The school didn't allow much freedom for teachers to chose their dress.

"These are much too big. I'm going to need tighter clothes... I should go shopping tomorrow," she mused. She felt a strange pulse run through her in agreement. She shook the feeling and ignored it. She was feeling uncomfortably cheerful for some reason.

It felt so good to find this all simply normal.

Who's at the door?

          Sarah, a student.
