Your eyes split wide open. For a second you can see a great flame shadow in front of you, but then it vanishes. For a while you are short of breath, not daring to believe what just happened. Once you are certain nothing is unusual you think of your old theory, hallucinations.
These sort dreams are a greater part of you than you would like to think, as most of them are about flames and shadows. The rest are just plain silly, with pizzas invading land of the homeless or something else. Having these dreams doesn’t trouble you much after all they are just dreams. But your trouble has started just recently. Form starting of this month you have been hallucinating about fires and shadows, which are becoming more and more frequent. These nightmares used to happen several times a year, now they happen every night. An uneasy feeling has surrounded you like an aura which others can feel, which you feel more and more after each day. And now for the first time ever you have heard a voice from the fiery void, in which you sensed a presence of the source of evil. Each word is in your memory, clear as the world itself. Perhaps you need some medical help. Or maybe you just need to relax.
That is right. These past few months have been very stressful. Strangely the first sentence spoken by in your nightmare is true, today is the day you will be free. You are writing your final papers in school, which need to be good enough for you to receive an admission. Today is your final exam. Your name is Alex Kurt.
It is already 8 am. You planned on waking up much earlier; you even had several alarms just for that purpose so why couldn’t you wake up when normally even a whisper is enough to disturb you when you sleep? Maybe it is because of that dream. Anyway you need to go to school, today is the last day of school of your life and everyone is going to celebrate your and your classmates’ graduation. You might also hope to meet a nice girl as there are students just graduating from other schools invited also. Of course you, a nerd without glasses and braces, will find it difficult to talk to someone. No matter how hard you try you will be shy, not having a social life.
After getting ready and wearing a casual shirt and jeans you head out to school. You live in a rich area, the houses are all big and there is a lot of greenery, much more than a normal community. The school you are enrolled in is a public school and has a very high reputation. The school building is very big and the facilities are the latest. There is everything in your school. Because of this students graduating high school from nearby communities have been invited. Your school is just 5 minutes walking distance. Normally you would be able to persuade your parents to drive you to school but not today. They are on a business trip. You are the only child, so for a week or so you are alone in your house. Walking to school has always been lonely. Today something new happens.
Going to school you see a girl same age as you walking. Her name is Amanda and she is very cute. Unbelievably she calls out to you “Hey Alex”.
“Hi” you reply.
“So you prepared well for the exam?” she is one of the top students in school, and well she competes with you. Sometimes she get better grades, but mostly you do.
“Yeah. So you exited that today the exams will end?” You ask
“Well yeah, but I am more exited about the party. So many different people to meet. You meeting any new girl?”
You reply “I want to, but you are also cute.” This you say with a lot of courage
She looks slightly guilty “Oh I’m sorry but I’ve already got a date.”
“Ah well I was just trying my luck” you say
For a second she stares at you, then she laughs “Ah you are way too honest. You don’t say things like that to a girl. But I like that. Of all the years someone has asked me out none have said what you just said. But just don’t say it again. Let me guess you never have had a date have you?”
“No, I haven’t” you reply not knowing what else to say.
“Well that might be the reason your average in school is higher than mine. But then again, I’ve never really gone on many dates and never had a proper boyfriend. Anyway the exam should be starting soon. Lets hurry.”
“Math exam, it shouldn’t be referred to as an exam. Its not even a test, no math has never been difficult.” You say
An uneasy look appears onto her face. Without saying another word you two speed to the school.
