The girls are taken outside of the hut with their arms tied around their backs. They hear chanting from a bunch of older men sitting around the fire. It is now morning.
A group of young men, about 18 years old, stand not far behind them. They hear one of the older men talking about earning the right to become an adult. One of the men walks up behind the girls and says, in very broken English, “Run.”
He pushes the girls forward and they take off as quickly as they can through the open, desolate plain. Erin looks back briefly and sees the young boys, naked, preparing to chase after them. They then realize that the boys will earn their rights to manhood if they catch the girls and fuck them. They start to run even faster.
Suddenly, they hear a man yell out and the boys take off toward the girls, who run terrified away from the camp site. |
