An envelope was handed to me by someone I didn’t catch the face of - its markings were striking and familiar. It was pink in color, with yellow decorative ribbons along the side, and sealed with a wax imprint of the most famous letter in Davinci High - K.
I hurried into a bathroom stall and paused, staring at the letter for a moment, before, as carefully as possible. In my haste, I broke the wax imprint in half.

We’ve been watching you for some time and we believe that you may have what it takes to be a member of the K Group.
You will tell no one of this correspondence. You will come to school tomorrow in attire most befitting a K. After second period, you will walk out the art wing doors and await instructions.
Any failure to perform the above mentioned activities will be grounds for your immediate dismissal.
Congratulations. I’m sure you know how important this letter is.

There was a seed in the back of my mind that this letter might be an invitation, but I passed off this seed as wishful thinking on my part. In Divinci High, the K Group is nothing short of legendary. Years ago, cliques at Davinci High had become super-evolved to the point of being secret clubs. As it is now, you can not be a student at Davinci without belonging to one of these cliques. They’ve all been manufactured for different strata of people, but as far back as I’ve ever heard, K has been at the apex. These have been the super elite girls, so far ahead of the pack that the Mara, the highest eschelon male clique made up of mostly urban artists, fear crossing a K member.
I was in the unfortunate predictament of being a Crix, a lower level group that has always tried to fight the tyranny of the high powered cliques. That is, the people who are in charge of the Crix have tried. Most of it’s members stay silent on the matter, as there’s been a long-circulating rumor that Crix girls are most often chosen to be K members.
I nearly wept as I held the letter in my hand. What was it that I’d done to become a K? I’d always been a quiet girl, certainly not the calibre of person I’d think they’d consider. But if my invitation has been issued, I would do everything in my power to become a K. But what was there to do?
“Girls? I’d like to use the bathroom please.”
