Chyoo FAQ | jakelyon | 3

This feature allow the editor of a story to set it up so you can enter a name at the start of the story and then see that name appear throughout the text of the story. It is a pretty simple process once you get used to it.

NOTE THAT I ADDED AN EXTRA SPACE AFTER THE UNDERSCORE IN THE EXAMPLES TO GET THEM TO STAY FOR PURPOSE OF THE FAQ. YOU MUST ENTER THE IMMERSIVE TEXT WITHOUT THE SPACES OR THEY WILL NOT WORK WITHIN THE SYSTEM.

Simply enter {FIRST_ NAME} any place that you wish the character’s first name to appear. It must be ALL CAPS, and it must use a _ or it will not work.

So instead of writing, “Jake you fucking bastard,”

You would write {FIRST_ NAME} you fucking bastard. The story will then fill in whatever name people enter when prompted upon entering a story.

Similarly you can you {LAST_ NAME} for the characters last name to appear.

So instead of “Good to see you again Mr. Bond,”

You would write, “Good to see you again Mr. {LAST_ NAME}”.

If you enter an immersive story without entering a name all immersive text will be filled in with John Doe, or Jane Doe in a kind of odd random manner.

You will also find stories that use the immersive text in more creative ways, i.e. {FIRST_ NAME} for the man’s name, and {LAST_ NAME} for the woman’s name. Usually the editor will tell you in the story notes how the immersive text is being used.

There are no rules on how you must use this feature and if you find a good way of using it in your story by all means do so.
