As they drive out of town, Duncan tries to communicate with his new nurse in the back seat. Meanwhile, Heather notices Andre looking over at her repeatedly. Although he is trying to be discrete, she notices him staring at her cleavage. When she finally catches his eye, he smiles at her. She smiles back, flattered by the attention but a little afraid.
"Don't worry, we take care of you here," Andre says quietly and pats her leg.
Heather wonders if that was a reassurance or threat.
The drive to Tuonga is uneventful, and they arrive at the provincial town in late afternoon. They pull up in front of the charity school, where a middle-aged man comes out to greet them. His name is Dwyan Gomi, a local man in charge of the school. He greets Duncan with a brotherly hug, and smiles at Heather.
"Young Heather, so beautiful!" he exclaims, bowing slightly. "You are a woman now!"
Heather beams. "So nice to meet you, Dwyan. Father has said so much about you!" she embraces him, and he accepts with some embaressment.
Dwyan then looks over at the blonde German nurse. "Hello, welcome, young nurse," he says, bowing formally.
She giggles. "Heidi," she murmers, pointing at her chest. After an awkward moment, Heidi moves forward and hugs Dwyan, too.
Dwyan fidgits and smiles at his three guests.
