Michael rubbed his hands together and leant forwards to whisper to Aaralon. "You know the village at the gates of the college?"
Aaralon rolled his eyes, "Yes, of course I do. We might not be allowed to go there but I can hardly fail to notice it. Besides, it's where all the auxiliary campus staff live; you know, the cooks, cleaners and maids. People that like."
Nodding, Michael continued to recite his gossip with barely concealed enthusiasm, "Well. You might just be one of the lucky ones who gets to take a holiday from college and all this boring learning. Last night, I'm told, gnoll raiders attacked the village. The gnolls killed a few of the town guards, set fire to a few of the houses and kidnapped the mayor's daughter! Leonie's said that the College has agreed to send a party out after the gnolls to rescue the girl."
Aaralon shrugged, "I dunno. When since did Gnolls bother to kidnap people? Besides, the Leonie tells nothing but lies. You know she claims to have fucked four guys in Master Rogan's chaos magic class without Rogan noticing a thing?"
"Woah. Gee. I wish I'd been one of those four," drooled Michael, "She might be full of stories but she's got best legs on campus. Besides, I've heard from other people that village girl was kidnapped last night and I bet Grand Magus Sareth would agree to send a rescue party out. He's probably call it field work for the battle mages and give them an exam at the end of it all."
Aaralon laughed, "Yeah. That sounds like sourpuss Sareth all right. Gnolls or not, I?ll tell you one thing, I wouldn't mind getting outside the college grounds for a while."
Pushing his empty bowl away, Michael stood up and brushed the breadcrumbs from his lap. "If you really want to get out for a bit and don't mind trekking around after some smelly Gnolls then you'd better go rush to volunteer for the rescue party." He grinned, "That's if you believe Leonie and I."
"When since has it been 'Leonie and I?'" Aaralon asked with a grin, "I don't think she'll let you away with phrases like that."
Michael laughed back, "Ooh. She can come and scowl prettily at me anytime she likes. I'll catch you later! I'm going to be late."
Aaralon was left to wonder whether he wanted to do anything before his morning class.
