The sun was setting on California, it had been a beautiful day with a huge amount of people at the beach but now, as the water grew chilly people were nearly all gone. The evening was still warm and humid though. Two last patrols were sweeping the beach, in one direction went Neely and Jenna while in the other direction, out towards the old pier went Donna and Matt, who had been going out with Caroline for two months now.
HQ was mainly deserted as most people had gone home for the night. Mitch was still in his office doing paperwork, he had asked Caroline, CJ and Lani to join him at ten so that he could update them on a situation they had been looking into. He left it till ten so that CJ could finish interviewing a new life guard who had just been reassigned here. Meanwhile, in a small reception room in the back of the building four life guards were drinking. Taylor had been given a case of vodka for saving a distiller’s life earlier in the week and now she, Jessie, Jordan and Cody, CJ’s boyfriend were all quite drunk.
