Aaralon's Discoveries | Sixth | 6

"What's tha...", Aaralon heard Emerald start to say and then his connection to his spying demon vanished. He knew what had happened, Emerald must have caught a glimpse of the Tar'orth and that had caused the tiny demon to vanish.

He rubbed at his eyes; they were slightly sore, as if he hadn't been blinking enough while looking through the eyes of the demon. Still, with that mild discomfort aside the summoning had been entirely successful. He was sure he had managed to avoid a dangerous trap by refusing to make a deal with the imp too. Aaralon picked up his Book of Demons, spent a few minutes cleaning the room of any trace of the ritual, even though he was sure that no one bothered to visit this attic room in this nearly deserted tower and then crept back to his dormitory.

The campus was quiet. There were no formal rules on when the student mages had to be in side or asleep but by their very nature the wizards were all studious and their training was tiring so most were happy and willing to go to bed in good time. Aaralon found it easy to creep quietly into his room and then catch up on some sleep himself.

The morning was blessed with nice weather. The sky was a lovely clear blue and the sunshine nice and warm. Aaralon dressed in lightweight leather trousers and his favourite cotton shirt and headed down to the communal breakfast.

"Did you hear what happened last night?" Michael questioned him even as Aaralon sat down at the end of the long wooden table. "Well? Did you hear?"

Aaralon's heart raced, could news of the Tar'oth have spread? He was sure that Emerald would put any ideas of spying imps out of her mind. He paused for a second and then said, "How could I hear? I've only just woken up."

What does Michael tell Aaralon?

Gnoll raiders kidnapped a village girl.

          The princesses in danger.
