Aaralon's Discoveries | moonblack | 20

Aaralon was slowly recovering from the exhaustion caused by the last spell he had cast in a vain attempt to destroy the almost naked woman. But he was still too tired to cast any spell at all. He and his companions were helpless at the moment - they could only wait, listen to the heavy splashes of water indicating bodies being dumped overboard, and hope that the pirates had given up and retreated. The young mage hated feeling helpless.

Suddenly Aaralon felt some sort of magic being cast on the ship's deck, and then all feeling left his body. In less than a second he was completely paralyzed - he could only breathe and move his eyes, nothing else. Even though he couldn't check, he was sure that the same had happened to his companions. Not long after that the water splashes ended. Then the hatch opened, letting in some light, and several pirates went down to the four helpless mages. There wasn't enough light to see clearly, but even so Aaralon could see that their visitors were no doubt pirates and each of them was at least a head higher than any of the paralyzed victims. Each pirate effortlessly lifted one of the four victims. The small group was then carried to the ship's deck.

Once back out on the doomed ship's deck Aaralon would have gasped in shock had he been able to. There was blood everywhere he looked. The floor seemed completely covered in it. And no doubt most of it belonged to the slain crew of the ship. There were a few wounded pirates here and there, but far less than Aaralon had hoped. Of course, it was possible that he simply couldn't see most of the wounded because they weren't present, but his intuition was telling him this was not the case.

A ripping sound attracted Aaralon's attention and he turned his head to the left, a bit surprised that he was able to. What he saw were Nora and Olive's clothes being ripped to pieces by a couple of pirates. Before he could take a good look at their bodies however the two girls were surrounded by pirates and hidden from his sight. Aaralon turned his head to the right, where he saw Stanton - the first year student had closed his eyes, probably to avoid looking at all the blood that had been spilled.

Aaralon tried moving any other parts of his body, hoping that perhaps the paralysis caused by the spell is about to end, but to no avail - he could move only his eyes and his head, nothing more. He was still as helpless as before.

"Alright, boys, it's time to go. Move it!" Came a loud shout from the other ship - the voice belonged to a man - and without warning Aaralon was lifted off his feet and carried over to the Red Demon. He saw Stanton being carried as well, then the pirates hid the first year student from Aaralon's sight and the young mage could no longer see any of his three companions. He could only wonder what is going to happen to him and pray to the gods to spare his life at least for a little longer…
