A Wishbone Tale | Tallywhacker | 11

Dave thought that while Henrik might be telling the truth, the only thing he could know for sure was a man was threatening him and his girls with a gun and his only defense was the bone.

Even if the bone didn’t work directly on the invader, Dave still had three people he could influence.

Trying to be as discrete as possible, Dave wished to redouble the girls’ loyalty and to make them all master psychics.

“Dave!” Dave had barely felt the heat in his hand before his mind flooded with the cries of his harem. “What’s this guy talking about? Don’t tell us you’re gonna let him take the bone. Is he gonna shoot us!? What do we do!?”

“Relax” Dave thought to calm the sisters. He saw Henrik growing impatient from his hesitation. “I need you three to use your psychic powers to infiltrate his mind and get him under control. Start with making him continue our conversation so I can buy time.” Dave’s mind went silent as his new psychonauts invaded Henrik’s mind.

“You must think I’m stupid.” Dave began halting Henrik’s movement before it really began. “You think I’m going to hand over this bone so you can do whatever you want to me? If you have a counter measure, give me some so I know you won’t turn around and use this bone on me.”

“After what you’ve done, you think you have any place doubting others?” Henrik scowled, however, his features relaxed as he thought about it. “I suppose given the bone’s power you have every right to be cautious.”

Henrik put his gun down on a side table beside him and reached into his jacket retrieving a silver flask. “Take a swig off ‘a this. It’ll give you some short term resistance to the bone’s magics.”
