Black E-mail | Sim8425 | 9

'Now I have to find out who this button belongs to,' Sandra thought to herself. She silently opened the stall door and peeked through, to her delight, there was no one around. Sandra scurried out the bathroom as quickly as possible, almost having a heart attack in the process. She fixed up her hair and strolled off like nothing happened.

Instead of heading back to her office, Sandra traveled the hallways, looking at any man that crossed her path. She checked their jackets to see if they were missing what she had found, but she had no luck. 'I wonder where Steve is?' Sandra thought.

After peering through the hallways, she still hadn't found out who the mysterious fellow was. She entered her office and was struck with fear when her computer delivered another 'You've got mail' voice message.

Sandra's body regained the nervous composure which it had contained earlier. She walked over to her desk and checked the message out. She gulped as she started to read.

The message read, "Sandra, why don't we have lunch at Del Passo's today?" It was only an e-mail from her friend Lauren, she let out a deep sigh of relief. Sandra checked the time on the computer and it was already noon. ‘Wow did the morning fly by fast.’ She sent a reply, agreeing to her friend’s invitation.

Sandra redid her makeup and fixed her hair quickly before bursting out the office door. In the corner of her eye, she saw Steve Jenkins conversing with another man, who seemed to be her boss, Jason Rollins. Still curious about the button, Sandra went on her way, walking casually towards the men, but that came to a halt when she was interrupted.

"Hey, Sandra, ready to go?" Her co-worker and friend Lauren asked. Lauren was an unmarried middle-aged woman like Sandra. She was quite attractive in a sophisticated type of way. Her red hair was cut at her shoulders and she wore a suit much like Sandra's except it was black. She was the nosey type and loved to gossip about anything and everything.

”Yeah lets get going,” Sandra replied, hiding her fear and worries from Lauren. They walked to the restaurant because it was only about a block away. The fierce wind blew Sandra’s hair back thoroughly. Eventually, they reached their desired location, and chatted about work, cute guys, and the kind of stuff they would normally talk about. While wining and dining, enjoying their nice meal, Sandra almost spit out her beverage when Lauren made a fascinating comment. Sandra honestly could not believe her ears.

“Mary Samson is looking for a button she lost, the button alone is worth about $200!” Lauren said as she delivered the juicy gossip to Sandra. Sandra’s body froze as she went into a state of shock. Lauren’s words kept repeating and repeating inside her head. ‘Why would Mary’s button be in the men’s washroom?’ Sandra wondered. Mary was one of her six suspects but she had ruled her out because she had come to the conclusion of the blackmailer being male. ‘The blackmailer has to be male, he came on me,’ Sandra tried to convince herself. She wondered what the heck was going on.

What happens next?

          She confronts Mary.
