The New Housemate's Secret. | Bauer1 | 7

You wake with a start as the alarm on your phone goes off at the time you set it for: 10 am as it is the weekend you allow yourself a lie in. Still half asleep you reach for your phone to stop the alarm. You get up and throw a t-shirt and some jogging trousers on and make your way to the kitchen. En route to the kitchen you walk past Rachel's room, but cannot hear any sounds of movement inside.

"No signs of her surfacing any time soon" you say softly to yourself "I wonder if she will be hungover?"

Once in the kitchen you prepare yourself a glorious fried breakfast: sausage, fried bread, eggs, hash browns, bacon and beans. As you tuck in you hear Rachel's door open and some slow, shuffling footsteps. A minute later Rachel slowly came down the stairs and entered the kitchen. You look at her, see from her expression and body language that she was nursing a serious hangover and laugh.

"Morning Rachel" you say cheerfully "you don't look that great! How's the head?

Rachel doesn't dignify your question with a response. Instead she glares at you and shuffles to the kettle to pour herself some coffee.

Feeling sorry for her you stand up."Sit down, I'll make it for you. Do you want to make you a fried breakfast?"

Rachel manages a half smile and nods in an affirmative.

As you make the breakfast she holds her head in her hands and moans to herself "I'm never drinking again!"

With a smile you set the plate in front of her.

"I've lost count the number of times I've said that" You reply. "So then, other than shake off that hangover what are you up to today?"

"As little as possible I think. If I'm feeling up to it I might study, but staying in a dark room all day is a very attractive proposition. Thanks by the way, you're a lifesaver" Rachel says, indicating to the breakfast plate in front of her. "What about you?'
