The Blackmailing of Annie | dirtykentman | 5

She sits, waiting, watching the screen, pressing refresh every few seconds, hoping a response will soon come, and that whoever sent that message will just say sorry and send her dairy back. But she knows she is grasping at straws, that someone capable of sending the first message is unlikely to back down so quickly.

After about ten minutes of constant refresh her screen shows a new message, and with trembling hands she clicks to open it, almost holding her breath in anticipation of what this stranger now has to say.

“Dear Annie, I am disappointed in your reply, it shows a lack of respect to not only me but to you. Yes, you, as you must surely know I mean what I have written, and you so clearly know how powerful all this information in your diary is to me. That is unless you think your husband would be more understanding that you seem to suggest he is in some of what you have written.

So, may I suggest you simply agree with my demands and do exactly as I say. After all, much of what I have is mind is surely no worse than some of the fantasies you have put in black and white in the pages of this very book I am holding right now.

But, if you still wish to speak to the police or your husband, feel free. I have already scanned some of the more interesting pages of your diary so just one press of a button here and so many people will see some interesting facts about you.

As a small example, may I ask why you frequent some of the websites listed in this diary. I was shocked to see some of the titles, and as for what you wrote in one profile, something about your husband not giving it to you as much as you would like, well, I’m sure your husband wouldn’t approve that you have written such a thing for all to see, and what would all your family think as well if they knew you felt that way?

So my dear Annie, again I’m going to suggest you agree to my terms, and send me something nice to look at in your next email. Please don’t make me send this to your husband. It would be such a shame if you had to explain to him some of the details in it.”

She read it through slowly, taking in his words, his threats, and she realised just how much information she did but in her diary. God, how could she have been so stupid she told herself.

Does she now do as she is told?

Yes, she can't think of any other option
