The Blackmailing of Annie | dirtykentman | 3

"Dear Annie, I believe I have something of yours. And it makes such interesting reading that I think I will keep it for a while, I do hope you don’t mind.”

Even as she read the first few lines, fear griped her. Her diary, how could she have been so stupid to leave it at the cafe, she was normally so careful, it contained so much private information, her secret thoughts, names and emails of friends and people she knew online, even some of her usernames and passwords for the more adult sites. She read on slowly, her heart beating faster.

“In fact it is so interesting, I think I would like you to do some things for me, to show your willingness to have it returned some time, once I have finished with it, and with you. I am sure you will see the sense of doing as I say, after all, I do have not only your email but your husbands, and your work colleagues, some friends I believe, so many people who would I’m sure be interested in reading some of your thoughts you put in your diary. Oh and some of the websites you mention, well, what would your husband say about them?

So, can I assume you agree to my terms, you do as I say and no one else will ever need to know? Why don’t you email me and tell me you agree isn’t that so simple.

Oh and I almost forgot, so I know you are honest in saying yes, I’d like to see a picture of you, surprise me, and make sure it’s interesting or maybe I will just email your husband with some of the facts in this diary."

She sat, shocked, reading it over and over, hoping maybe she had misunderstood it, somehow had missed something, maybe it was a joke, a friend playing about. But as she sat there she realised that it was true, whoever this was had her diary and so had all of her secrets.

How does she respond?

          In a panic
