"In space no one can hear you breed" | HumanHorn | 7

You're crying, 's crying, and looking up you can see that while she's completely bewildered, Project Genesis might be joining you shortly even though she has no idea why. You can only assume it's because you're the captain, and if she's had it programmed into her head to serve you, than surely she must feel conflicted and confused right now.

But then you stop and wonder, is really feeling any different? Right now, they're both looking to you. For strength, for direction, for comfort. You have no idea what might be going through Project Genesis' head right now, but no matter how you look at it she's technically only been alive for a few minutes, and your little sister is looking to you for strength in a time of crisis.

Neither one of them will be helped by your tears. Nor will your mother, your father, your brother or friends, or any of the other dead passengers. Tears won't help anyone.

With this thought you wipe your eyes on the back of your sleeve, and with a quick sniffle, you push all of these painful emotions away. They're still very much so there, but you can't deal with them right now. Right now, you have to be a source of confidence and strength. Right now, you have to be the captain.

Wrapping your arms around as she sobs into your chest you whisper words of comfort in her ear, even though you don't have many to give.

"Th-that's right," Project Genesis tries tentatively. You act quickly, minutely shaking your head side to side. She picks up on the hint, a dejected air settling over her. It's not that her heart wasn't in the right place, you're just not sure whether or not 's sadness is going to suddenly turn into anger. It might not be Project Genesis' fault that the other beds were stripped of their power to support hers, but might see things differently.

A few minutes later, once had calmed down, the three of you stood just in front of stasis bed 551 discussing what needed to be done. They'd come to a quick consensus that they needed to go out and inspect the ship for any damage.

"The greenery," mentions. "It supplies all of the ships oxygen, and it's possible that we might be able to find a few fruits or vegetables. It should be what we check on first."

"Captain," Project Genesis starts off quiet and shy, but her confidence grows as she speaks. "With all do respect, I think we should inspect the generators. We already know that the fuel line has been compromised and that they've been working at full capacity for nearly a century and a half. If the generators fail, backup power will only last us a day at most, and I'm not sure that'd be enough time to find and patch up any problem areas."

They both made good, sound arguments, and they both seemed to be looking to you to make the decision. However, you had been having ideas of your own.

You were exhausted, and from the looks of it, so were the girls. While you knew they were right in that you needed to inspect the ship, you weren't sure how much good you'd all be in an hour when you were all ready to fall over.

What do you do?
