The two girls study and you read for the rest of the afternoon. Meryl essentially acts as if nothing ever happened, and doesn’t seem uncomfortable wearing her sweater with nothing underneath. The more time passes though, the more her sweater seems to conform to the shape of her body. Meryl doesn’t notice it, but Kate clearly does, and you see her face slowly progress from confusion, to curiosity, to incredulity.
“Meryl… are you not wearing anything underneath that sweater? I know you were when we left the house. What the hell happened?”
“Ahhh…hahaha… well, when you went to get coffee… well… Robert and I were talking, and he said that I seemed over-serious, then he… err… sort of dare me to take my shirt and bra off and just wear my sweater. So, I did,” Meryl stammers, her face unnaturally red for someone with her complexion. Meryl was clearly not used to doing anything embarrassing, and she was practically retreating in to her collar.
“Wow! I’m impressed Robert… Meryl is usually a little bit of a… she tends to be pretty conservative, let’s say. You must be pretty gifted with your tongue… I mean, with speech, to be able to talk my girl here out of her clothes.
“Well, I sort of cheated, I told her I’d…”
“I made him promise that he would do his best to embarrass you at the bar. I told him that every time we go out you manage to embarrass me with something you do, and that I'd love to see the tables turned," Meryl said, giving you the eye ball.
"Ahh yeah... haha... clearly it's going to be a little harder now that she knows, huh? Good job there, Meryl," you say.
"Hahaha... well, I'll think I'll probably enjoy having you try," Kate says, giving you a big seductive smile.
You can see a crack of resentment on Meryl's face. She mentioned earlier that Kate is constantly swiping guys from her, and you can see that dynamic at play.
After that exchange, things settle down and the two girls continue studying for the afternoon. Before you know it, it's time to head to the bar.
