When Temptation Rears It's Head | childofasmodeus | 6

Having beaten off earlier and being back in control of himself, Jack's fatherly intuition kicked back in. The house was far too quiet for having two teen-aged girls in it.

Jack didn't bother to turn of the TV in his bedroom, he'd be back in just a moment after he saw what kind of trouble the girls were up to. By the time he hit the bottom stair the only sound he could hear was the muffled voices coming from the News broadcast he had left on the TV.

The lights were almost all off in the downstairs of the house, only the small night light in the bathroom gave off any luminescence. Jack waited patiently as his eyes adjusted. He took the time given to strain his hearing for any sort of noise.

Jack's eyes slowly became used to he low light, but his ears had yet to pick up on anything other than the murmur of his TV. As he crept towards Emily's bedroom he thought of what kind of trouble they might be up to. For some reason his mind went straight to thoughts of drugs, but he couldn't think of anything they would be using so quietly. And he figured he'd smell the usual drugs like pot.

As he wondered what else it might be he arrived at Emily's door. The door was closed and Jack couldn't see any light coming from the crack underneath the door. The only light was the low amount from the bathroom.

Jack listened at the door, straining once more to hear anything. Silence, Jack couldn't hear a thing. They hadn't been home long at all. Surely they wouldn't go straight to bed after wanting to have a sleep over. Then Jack thought if it wasn't drugs, then maybe they snuck out to meet boys. But then why come home? They were at the movies earlier, there had to be guys there. They'd have just come home later.

Jack decided there was only one way to find out for sure.

Open the door? Knock? Or plan C?

          Knock
