The blonde woman stops just short of the door out to the street to check a text on her phone and you take the opportunity to approach them.
“Umm… hi there…” you look at the brown-haired girl as you talk, since she was the one who had looked back at you in the elevator, “I know this is out of the blue, but I find myself with some time on my hands, and no plans, and you two seem friendly, so I thought I’d see what you were up to, and ask if I might come along.”
You’re proud at yourself for managing to be forward and friendly without seeming too awkward. Apparently your confidence and friendly approach won them over. Or at least one of them. The brown-haired girl replied.
“Hi, actually, we’re both 2nd years at BCU Law School and we were just headed to the library to study for a few hours. My name is Kate, by the way, and this is Meryl. I don’t think I’ve seen you around the building before, did you just move in?”
“Nice to meet you, Kate, I’m Robert. That’s funny, actually, I’ve lived here for four years now, but I usually work so much you’ve probably just never seen me. I just finally got a vacation and I don’t really know what to do with myself.”
“Wow, well, you’re welcome to come with us to the library if you want, it’ll probably be pretty boring, but we’re meeting up with some friends for drinks afterwards, and that will be fun.”
Meryl is done reading her text at this point and doesn’t add anything. She looks at you with a friendly, if slightly distant expression. Kate looks at you intently with a smile on her face. A day at the library wasn’t exactly what you had in mind for your first day of vacation, but having drinks after might be fun.
