Lila and Emma climb in to Lila's car to head home. As soon as the doors are shut, Emma lets out a long sigh and watches you fade into the darkness through the side mirror.
" is pretty awesome!" Lila says enthusiastically.
"Yeah..." Emma responds, in a dreamy way.
"And really cute, too." Lila chirps.
"Totally!" Emma responds. "And he actually appears to be a decent guy."
They get to a red light, and looks at Emma before saying "as long as the others don't get to him. I really hope they don't corrupt him like they did the other guys."
"I think he's different." Emma turns to her friend, "Green." She says as the light changes.
"Oh, I know he's different. The problem is, what if THEY run him off. We need an ally. All the other guys have left because of the drama that happened between them and the others. We finally have a guy who won't fall into that trap, but what if they try to run him off just to get themselves another boy toy?" Lila's concern is clearly displayed in her voice, and Emma thinks for a minute before responding.
They pull up to their apartment complex and get out of the car before Emma can even respond.
As the girls walk to their apartment door, Emma finally responds. "I don't know what we would do, but I just hope we don't lose him. There aren't many guys around like him." The dreamy sound in voice returns.
"You really think he's cute, eh?" Lila looks at her friend quizzingly.
"Well, he's better looking than the other guys who have worked with us. Much cuter than the ones that always hit on me!" Emma responds, trying to blow off what Lila is obviously implying.
"Well, nothing wrong with thinking he's cute. I think he's really attractive myself. Not sure if he's my type, exactly, but I wouldn't mind getting to know him better. I definitely think he'd be a good match for you, though." Lila chuckles, knowing better than to play matchmaker for Emma.
"Well," she adds. "I suppose we should call it a night." |
