"Yes" | A.Dent | 5

While she felt confident that she had found a clever way around Tanya’s curse, a part of Megan’s mind was ill at ease. Sure, the logic she had tried to put into place seemed sound. But would a magic spell follow the laws of logic? Would her fix have permanent effects? Even if it did, now that she had such a powerful hold over another human being, what would she do with it?

Setting aside her ethical dilemmas for a minute, Megan decided that at the very least she had to find out if her cure had actually taken effect. After all, since casting her “counter-spell” there had been no one else around to issue commands to the beleaguered teen. As they walked down the hall Megan grabbed her notebook from her bag and jotted a quick note and tore it out of the binding. After folding it in half, she gave it to Tanya and told her to hand it to the next person they passed in the hallway.

As it happened, the next person they saw in the hallway was quite possibly the walking epitome of a nerd. The boy coming towards them had all the stereotypes of the reclusive geek. Glasses. Acne. A T-shirt that featured some obscure reference to a cartoon show that few people outside of Japan had ever seen. As the girls and the nerd passed each other in the hallway Tanya did as she was told and handed the note to the nerd and the girls continued to walk down the hallway. The boy, however, was caught completely by surprise by this turn of events and stopped to read the note. In doing so, he read yet another insult, just like all the others that were said to him on a daily basis. “Real funny Tanya.” The boy retorted down the hallway. “That’s real funny. You know what? Why don’t you go fuck yourself?”

Did Megan's fix work?

          It does!
