Yet another high school story... | yoyo1342 | 6

You decide that it is of the utmost importance that you ask your stepdad for a ride to school this morning. You step in to his bedroom and you can see that his bathroom door cracked open. Looking through the crack, all you can see is the mirror, the shower is behind the door.

“Hey dad? Do you think you could give me a ride to school?” You asked, not loud enough for him to know what you said, but loud enough for him to know you said something.

“Sorry honey, I couldn’t hear you, I’m in the shower. Could you speak up?” George sounded appropriately confused.

Not so innocently misunderstanding, you open the door to the bathroom and step just inside the door, clasping your hands behind your back so that your nipples just jut out a bit through your tank top. In the back of your mind you know that this is not a very nice thing to be doing, and really more in your sister’s character than yours. Of course, you have no intention whatsoever of doing anything with George, even if he is only your stepfather. You guess that the impulse just stemmed from a mix of curiosity, mischievousness, and to some extent you just think that your pop could use a little bit of… intrigue, in his life. Whatever the reason, you were in it now.

“I said, ‘do you think you could give me a ride to school?’” You repeat.

“Umm… sweetie, it’s not that long a walk, you’ve got plenty of time.”

At this point you turn on the water works. You cry about how you just don’t want to see your ex-boyfriend, Mark, because you were sure that if you did you’d either break down crying or try get pissed off and try to hit him. This was, strictly speaking, nonsense. You were upset when he dumped you for that bimbo hipster chick Wren, but it’d been months and you were basically over it. You father, however, didn’t know this.

“I... I… I’m really sorry Dani, but I really can’t. I’ve got a conference call here in a half an hour, I can’t go anywhere.” The whole time he stayed totally behind the curtain, not even poking his head out.He was giving you nothing to work with.

Crocodile tears running down your face, you have run out of ideas.

Admit defeat?

          Press your luck...

          Just walk away...
