--- General stuff
It should be obvious that this is a medieval-fantasy themed world. In other words, knights and kings and mages and sellswords abound. Magic in this world is basically a free-for-all; there are magical academies in most major cities but they do not attempt to control magical ability. There are the occasional dark mages who attempt to destroy the world but they are usually dealt with fairly easily by the other mages.
--- Places
Redonia, the land over which Dahalag is King, occupies the central area in the main continent of the world. It is mostly flat, with plenty of fertile land for cultivation. This, together with its central position, have made Redonia very wealthy and important.
To the south of Redonia lie the Barrens, a hilly wasteland occupied by nomadic tribes. There are numerous ruins scattered throughout the Barrens; it is thought that there was once a powerful civilization based there. What happened is unknown, but there are whispers of dark magic and evil forces. Most of the people on the continent have some sort of superstition regarding the Barrens, and tend to stay away from it. Allura, fleeing from Dahalag, took over one of the abandoned castles and began recruiting followers from the nomadic tribes.
To the east of Redonia are the eastern plains (no surprises there), also peopled by nomadic tribes, although far more sophisticated than those in the Barrens. Redonia has recently made an attempt to subjugate the eastern plains, and tempers are high.
Also to the south of Redonia (further south than the Barrens) are the Frostwall mountains, ruled by mercenary clans. The people are tough, hardy, and difficult to convince of anything, but as fighters they are unequaled.
Tucked away to the northwest of Redonia is Sharwydd forest, a large forest filled with mystery. It is said that bandits run rampant there, and indeed there have been many reports of bandit raids originating from Sharwydd forest. Every now and again Redonia sends in troops to try and clean out the forest, but this has never been successful. Very little is known of what exactly lies inside. |
