My name's Samantha Meade - but everyone calls me Sam. It's always been that way. So when my parents were putting in applications to get me into the fancy boarding schools that's what they put.
Apparently they didn't know Masterson's is an all-boy's school. And Masterson's don't ask for gender as they think no one is stupid enough to submit an application for a girl. So they accepted me, and I went.
"Hello young lady, how can I help you?" said the old lady at the desk when I arrived for my first day with all my bags that I had carried from the bus ad was eager to get to my room.
"Just wanna get to my room thanks. Sam Meade." I said.
"I assume you're looking for your brother?" the old woman didn't seem to hear me.
"What? I don't have a brother, just tell me which is my room, I gotto put this stuff down!"
"Sam... Meade... did you say?" The woman looked at a list, "oh dear" she said.
"What?" I was growing more and more impatient.
"You're a girl."
"duh, my room please?"
"This is an all boy's school."
"Whatever! Just tell me- hang on what?"
"Young lady you have been enrolled in an all-boy's school. The paperwork is all in order, fees have been paid, and you're obviously a long way from home. I'll inform the principal at once but for now you're entitled to a room... which you'll be sharing with three young men."
God my parents are stupid.
I walked through the yard with my bags, my arms wanting to fall off, until finally I found my room number. I could feel the eyes of every guy in the vicinity watching me. I struggled with the key, almost dropping my bags. Behind me came a call of "I can help you get the key in the hole, I'm good at that!" A chorus of laughter and then another "I'd help you hold your bags if you'd hold mine babe!" more laughter.
I turned around and glared, but there must have been at least 20 young guys standing around staring.
I finally got my door open, got inside and slammed the door behind me. |
