John shrugged to himself and decided to eat breakfast, he could always take a quick shower afterward before going to school. He walked over to the stairs and headed down to the first floor.
His mom was standing in front of the stove, wearing a tiny, silk kimono (she rarely showed any kind of modesty around the house) cooking -what smelled like- eggs and bacon. She must have heard John coming down the stairs, because she looked briefly over her shoulder and smiled at him.
"Good morning, sweetie," she said, her shoulder-length brown-auburn hair framing her still pretty face and bright motherly smile. The first time John had ever seen Everybody Loves Raymond he had seen a near body double for his own mother in Patricia Heaton. Sure his mom, Kathy, was a little taller, but the two were nearly twins. "Your father had to rush off -he didn't even tell me before I started making breakfast- so there's extras if you want them," she said before turning back to the stove and singing softly to some Oldies song that was playing on the radio. |
