Clash of the teen titans | Zorlond | 19

"So," you say, "What you want is to be with me?"

Jinx nods. "Yes. I want that more than anything else. And I told you, I'd do anything for you. Just tell me what you want."

You pause only for a moment. "Alright. Be a hero."

Jinx considers that. "That's it?"

You smile a bit. "You sound like I asked for a little, tiny favor." Your smile fades. "It isn't. Being a hero, or a villain for that matter, isn't about actions and words. It's about why you do the things you do, and what you hope to accomplish. Knowing these things far deeper than conscious thought, knowing it in your bones. Being a hero is not easy to prove, to anyone. And it would be even harder for you, with your past. Especially with the Teen Titans. Bottom line, my price is that you change your very nature."

Your words sink in, and Jinx seems less certain than before. You continue, "I'll help you, if I can, but ultimately the changes will be yours to make. I can't change your nature for you. But believe me..." You lock your eyes with hers again, leaning in towards her slightly, "I wouldn't ask this of you if I thought you couldn't. You're better than you think, Jinx. Don't give up on yourself."

You hold her gaze just a little longer, then take a half-step back. "I'll talk with the other Titans. You may end up doing jail time for your past crimes, but I'll see if I can find some alternative for you. But, whatever comes, remember what we talked about. I'll talk with you tomorrow. Try to get some sleep." You head to the door, unlock it, and step through. Turning back to face her, you give her a calm smile, her last sight of you as the door slides shut.

You sigh again. It's been a long day...

Bed? Maybe see if Robin's still up?
