School Report | alpha-xeta | 11

Not sure what to expect, you stare into her beady eyes.

Nothing happens for a moment, and you almost blink and shrink away, but when she quirks her lips at you – it makes you pause. Makes you wonder and stare deeper...

And deeper...

And deeper...

Your eyes feel heavy. Your shoulders fall and your whole body relaxes. Your breathing slows to almost nothing. You aren't even nervous anymore. It's so peaceful and tranquil...

And then she stands suddenly. The contact is lost and the world slams into you full force. Before you can even regain your bearings, she's already onto the second person.

What was that? Some kind of... relaxation technique? That was incredible. No wonder this school is rated so highly – if you can be made to feel like that in just a few moments.

You wait patiently for the teacher to finish going through everyone. She returns to the front of the room and looks down at a piece of paper on her podium.

"That was good, now think about that," she mumbles, "For tomorrow. We'll finish class with your daily drills."

She goes to her desk and opens a drawer, pulling out a stack of papers and distributing them.

You receive the worksheet. There is only one question, with tons of blank room for the answer. The question is amazingly simple, too:

Whom must you obey?

For a moment, you just sit there. Confused. What kind of a question is this? Is it philosophical? Is it referencing some book they had read in class recently? Was she expecting an essay, a short answer? Bulletin points?

This work seems like it's required, and you'd rather not get in trouble for not doing it...

What do you do?

          Ask Margriet.
