Figures. Three years since the last time they had gone to the digital world, and not ten minutes in there they were already in over their heads. After Tai had received a distress call from Agumon, they had opened the gate to the digital world with the help of Davis' odd new digivice, which appeared in his hands as they prepared to leave. That new model he held could open the gate to the alternate world, and now Tai, Kari, T.K and Davis had all gone through to answer the call for help.
Dark rings, Digimon emperor, mind-controled slaves. What awaited them was a situation far worse than they could have imagined, as Agumon explained. Unable to Digivolve, the majority of the digital world was being taken over by this dark new figure. Davis' digivice had picked up an odd signal coming from a nearby cave, where they found themselves now.
After removing a strange digi-egg from a stone pedestal inside, Davis had met Veemon, a miscievous little blue digimon claiming to have been waiting for him, but before explanations could be properly given, it happened.
"Gaah!" Tai Grunted as the entire caverns suddenly shook, rubble and dust falling all around the group.
"What's that?! An earthquake?!" Davis cried out, still trying to get his head around the whole Veemon situation.
"No, look up there!" T.K answered, pointing upwards.
The top of the cave had been breached, and the head of what looked like a massive, plated rhino had begun tearing through the solid stone, making an opening for itself as the walls trembled.
"It's a monster!" Davis yelped in panic.
"No, it's a Digimon!" Kari corrected.
"Monochromon!" T.K immediately pointed out, as the massive beast finally smashed a hole large enough to fit through, and jumped down into the shaking cave. Its eyes glowed bright red and a strange dark ring was looped around its body.
"Boom bubble!"
"Pepper breath!"
The attacks of the two rookie digimon landed home, but barely even caused the plated Monochromon to blink as they dispersed on its armor. It then slowly opened its maw wide, flames beginning to swirl into its throat, quickly growing in intensity.
"Come on, let's go!" T.K shouted as he began running back into the tunnel they came in through, quickly followed by the rest of the panicked group. "VOLCANIC STRIKE!" bellowed behind them as a torrent of searing flames chased them down the exit path. The ground shook violently again as the giant beast began to give chase, quickly catching up to the group.
Davis and Veemon made it last out of the cave, the others already down a steep hill. Another barrage of fire erupted from withing the cavern, and Veemon barely shoved Davis down the hill in time to avoid the blast. The flames went on to nearly hit Kari, who was knocked aside violently.
"You control the digi-egg of courage, Davis! You have to use your courage to open it!" As Veemon tried to explain the strange concept to Davis, the massive rhino jumped right over their heads, landing just in front of Kari with another violent shake of the ground. Davis, Tai, T.K and their digimon could only watch in horror as they were powerless to fight this monster.
Kari had felt her ankle twist badly as she fell to barely avoid the earlier blast. She couldn't move it at all, and it was all she could do to crawl backwards with eyes wide with terror as Monochromon approached her. Gatomon jumped in front to protect her, but a quick flick of the rhino digimon's head knocked her flying into the trees.
"Gatomon!" Kari yelped as her digimon disappeared in the bushes further. She was still on her butt, leaned back on her arms, unable to crawl back further as the large beast's head nearly reached her. Monochromon then... |
