It is your boss. She must have heard you. How long had she been standing there, you wonder. Did she hear the moaning coming from ? You don't have much time to think about it, when all your questions are answered. She is looking at you both with her hands on her hips, as if she was a scolding Mother, with a look of disappointment on her face.
"Well, are the two of you having a good time?" She asks with a tone that expresses her disapproval.
You don't know what to say, feeling like a young boy caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
"Umm, and I were just going over...." tries to come up with a good excuse, but even hearing her start you knew it was no use.
"Save it." your boss says now, with an even more demanding tone. "What am I to do with two naughty kids who like to play, while they should be working?" Her tone now getting devious, almost eerily so. You suddenly realize this bet thing seems to be taking another turn. "Come, both of you, follow me."
looks over at you and you can tell she is just as nervous as you. The two of you follow feeling a little like sheep being led to the slaughter. |
